We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our LexisNexis Legal & Professional team and support a rapidly growing content systems portfolio in our Raleigh office.

The individual will be part of a team,automating functions to aid editorial in processing data, integrating laws into statutory code based on legislative impacts.The individual will have opportunities to drive several key functions, such as ensuring that all content is collected accurately and in a timely manner, will focus on realizing operational efficiencies, including working with other departments to develop process improvements.


Automating functions to aid editorial in processing content for delivery to lexis advance and various print products. Automation involves streamlining workflow processes, building regression test suites, using natural processing language and patterns / machine learning to markup content that provides linking capabilities, building tools that automate tasks as well troubleshooting and maintaining current systems and providing production support

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of simple to moderate complexity.

  • Work closely with other development team members to understand product requirements and translate them into software designs.

  • Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.

  • Trouble shoot and resolve technical issues as necessary.

  • Keep abreast of new technology developments.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience withUnixand MS Windows

  • Intermediate understanding of SQL and relational databases

  • Experience with following programming languages –

  • Perl Scripting- Required

  • XPath– required

  • Regular Expressions

  • Object oriented technology– required

  • XHTML,XML, HTML – required

  • XSLT – would be a plus

  • SQL– required

  • JavaScript

  • JQuery

  • XQuery

  • Java– Required

  • Python – would be a plus

  • Machine Learning techniques / languages – would be a plus.

  • 1-2 years programming experience
