Global Operations

  • A Global team within LexisNexis supporting all LN’s businesses across Editorial, Customer Support, Order Fulfilment and Customer Experience, Business Systems, Robotic Process Automation and AI, and REPH

  • Finance team provides decision support to the senior leaders responsible for the above areas

Purpose of the role – working with REPH providing on-site financial decision support

  • With REPH being a relatively young “business” that has grown exceptionally quickly over the past 7 years there has been a tendency to just move work to the centre quickly. With more and more similar work being moved from all RELX divisions there are untapped synergies and best practices which this role pay a part in unlocking

  • This is a brand-new role reflecting Finance’s desire to help REPH mature and the role will, to an extent, shape itself

  • Working as the finance business partner to the General Manger of REPH the role will be responsible for ensuring:

  • REPH management team have a full understanding of their area cost profiles

  • Utilising metrics to compare and contrast between teams, not just within LN but across RELX where applicable

  • Identify the best practice and then work with team leaders to understand transferability of that best practice

  • Help REPH work with sending team leaders to implement changes

  • Working closely with the REPH operations team to ensure work is scheduled appropriately

  • Work closely with the REPH business development manager to help identify areas where work is being carried out for one RELX entity but not for others where it could be

  • Work with the local REPH finance team to enhance their processes and to free up time to provide more decision support capacity

  • Work with Global Operations finance team to push REPH ideas from a home market perspective

  • Also working with other finance teams within different divisions of RELX

Key result areas

  • Decision Support

  • Set-up and provide decision support capability locally to REPH

  • Engender “finance as business partner” with the REPH team providing key financial insight and rigour into decision making

  • Enable REPH to become more efficient through identification of best practice and/or process improvement

Cost reporting and forecasting

  • Own the monthly REPH results ensuring the management team understand the results, where costs are trending and how recoveries are being made

  • Responsible for the quarterly forecasting and budget cycles of REPH, both local cost and transfer costs of the work being carried out

  • Note – other finance teams are responsible for providing the numbers and entering forecasts into the systems

  • This role will interact very closely with those teams

Expansion

  • Capital evaluations of new property and/or office refurbishment decisions

Key skills and experience

  • Operates in a specialist area and uses professional knowledge to deliver results

  • 5 Years Post Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA)

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in order to develop greater independence in role

  • Prior experience of providing analysis to inform commercial decision making

  • Ability to be able to communicate with the wider business building a strong network and working relationships outside of Finance being comfortable with communicating financial concepts and numbers to non-Financial customers

  • Proven self-starter who has courage in their convictions

  • Desirable to have worked with Hyperion and Oracle Peoplesoft

  • Day-to-day interaction with GM of REPH and their team and the REPH finance team

  • Day-to-day interaction with Global Operations Decision Support team

  • Regular interaction with other areas of finance (financial accounts and reporting & planning)

  • Regular interaction with business owners of processes with part/all work at REPH
