Job Summary:

This position exists to manage and support the performance of an editorial staff in order to implement and support the production, currentness, and quality goals of Lexis Editorial Operations for the Shepard’s online product. This position will be responsible for overseeing a team of between 20-30 legal editors who are responsible for analyzing cases and making citations history connections, applying Shepard’s treatment letters, and performing other functions related to the Shepard’s online product.

Accountabilities

  • Builds and maintains an effective operations organization committed to customer and employee satisfaction and profitable growth

  • Manages or advises on hiring, training and development, allocation and performance assessment of personnel within area of responsibility

  • Provides the tools, training and environment required to achieve employee success

  • Train staff and the subsequent optimization of their performance to support organization’s strategic goals

  • Identify the need for, provide and/or assure all personnel are properly trained in their assigned tasks

  • Review, develop and implement process improvements, departmental goals and objectives

  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, changes and requirements and ensure compliance.

  • Advise and implement field best practices to improve products, applications and services

  • Ensure all work is completed according to established policies, procedures, and standards

  • Assist staff in adhering to the department work schedules are maintained and projects proceed according to plans/job specifications

  • Manage customer relationships expectations both internal and external

  • Prepare and/or assist in preparation of the budgets and monitor related expenditures to ensure compliance with established departmental budget

  • Assist in the preparation of periodic operational reports and metrics as requested

  • Assist other departments/ divisions as requested by supervisor and/ or other senior management

Qualifications:

  • JD or LLB required

  • At least 3 years of leadership experience

  • Strong leadership skills and customer focus

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership, internal customers, vendors and demonstrated ability to communicate with different cultures across multiple continents.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast paced environment managing multiple priorities within tight deadlines

  • Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of internal stakeholder and external customer expectations for the Shepard’s project and all aspects of production requirements.

  • Ability to foster and lead teams through change in work processes

  • Candidate should not have had any Disciplinary Action and no Performance or Attendance issues for the past 12 months
