Location: New York, New York, United States

The Director of Global Strategy & Business Development works closely with the EVP of Global Strategy to achieve LexisNexis’ revenue and profitability goals and to maintain and enhance its industry leading position. Responsibilities include providing high quality timely analysis and informed recommendations on strategy, acquisitions, divestments, market characteristics and competitive dynamics. We operate in a collaborative and supportive culture and require the role holder to be a strong team player who is able to lead discrete deliverables as well as rapidly shift to participate in additional projects as necessary across the business units. The role requires outstanding analytical and advisory skills, excellent written communication skills, the ability to plan, manage and deliver projects independently, the ability to lead cross-functional teams within the organization and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the Global CEO and executive leadership team. In many instances, the Director will also participate in the operational implementation of the plans and ensure best practices are leveraged.

As theDirector of Global Strategyyour key roles and responsibilities will include:

Develop, refine and implement strategic plans and performance improvement projects across the various LNLP business units:

1.Plan and manage projects to address and solve key strategic issues facing the business units, delivering high quality results to planned timescales

*Manage multiple concurrent projects, keeping stakeholders updated and timelines on track *Example projects include: -Evaluate the attractiveness of new markets for LNLP and develop market entry strategies -Assess product and content capabilities and develop prioritized roadmaps to enhance competitive positioning -Develop a growth strategy for business unit by understanding current and potential use cases for its assets and develop a tactical plan to execute -Build a tactical plan for a cross-functional initiative within the organization, model the financial impact and benefits
  1. Conduct competitive and market intelligence analysis

    *Analyze economic, market and competitive data and communicate key information and implications to the senior leadership team

    *Manage and deliver the annual operating plan cycle including strategy reviews

    *Support the delivery of Board and Investor presentations from across different business units

  2. Develop internal reports on the state of the business or broader legal services industry

    *Draft reports for CEO/Board of Directors on the legal services market working with the business unit strategy leads

    *Develop quarterly reports assessing financial performance of the business

  3. Support M&A pipeline in-line with broader strategic priorities

    *Develop and maintain overarching corporate M&A strategy

    *Assist in evaluation of M&A opportunities, together with members of cross-functional global teams

  4. Build and develop the global strategy team

    *Support the development of an effective Strategy team, including ensuring knowledge transfer within the Strategy team and best practice sharing across the business

    *Provide guidance and development support to other team members where required

    *Work with strategy leads across LNLP to share ideas and best practices

Basic Qualifications:

• MBA qualification preferred

• 2-4 years of post-MBA experience in consulting within a top tier strategy house and/or a corporate role with emphasis on strategic planning and/or business development (minimum 3 years consulting)

• Must be a strategic thinker who is highly analytical and has excellent presentation and communication skills as well as advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint

• Must have a strong sense of how the business operates in a global context and be able to bring a macro perspective to business opportunities and a vision to solving operational issues

• Ability to deliver results working with individuals of all seniority levels within a complex, matrixed environment

• Proven track record of dealing with senior level executives
