Lexis Practice Advisor, is looking for an Assistant Managing Editor to oversee legal news and deeper analysis coverage impacting a variety of practice areas and industries. Applicants must have exceptional legal news judgment and management skills and have experience covering legal news. Recent, first-hand knowledge of the legal market, current legal developments and the ability to apply facts to the law is also required.


•Coordinate current awareness coverage of developments and events impacting the practice of law and serve as liaison between LexisNexis and Law360 teams.

•Coordinate delivery of a compelling current awareness product offering across specific practice areas working in conjunction with practice area teams.

•Manage internal content managers, editors and external authors to ensure timely delivery of content under tight deadlines.

•Collaborate with internal content managers, editors and external authors to ensure timely delivery of content under tight deadlines.

•Develop author relationships and recruit expert authors and contributors who are seasoned practitioners willing to provide analysis of the impact of current developments.

•Draft, review, and prepare legal news articles, summaries of events and deeper legal analysis articles in collaboration with attorney editors.

•Work with reporters to improve pitching, writing, developing stories

•Notify Managing Editor of recurring problems meeting expected deadlines

•Train and mentor new attorney writers

•Step in for Managing Editor to fulfill her duties as necessary

Skills and Qualities:

•Highly organized


•Ability to inspire and motivate

•Undergraduate degree in journalism or related field

•5+ years of legal journalism experience, with at least 2 years of management experience

•Persistent motivator who is able to get prompt results and enforce deadlines

•Deadline-oriented and highly organized

•Exceptional news judgment

•Strong legal writing and journalistic skills

•Demonstrated leadership and management skills

•Keen awareness of breaking legal news and developments
