Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States

LexisNexis Global Financial Shared Services (G.F.S.S.) is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to provide expertise for the Company’s technical and managerial accounting process across LexisNexis Legal & Professional and Risk divisions. As a member of the Global Financial Shared Services (GFSS) team based in Dayton, the role will be responsible for timely and accurate monthly reporting of financial information. The position reports directly to the Director of US Accounting and has frequent interactions with the Global Reporting, Planning and Analysis (GRPA) team as well as reporting through our parent company RELX. There is a strong service oriented culture with focus on service to internal customers on time and to quality, to build and maintain the reputation of the GFSS. The successful candidate will also have the drive and ability to assume greater responsibilities within the GFSS and global finance groups.


  1. Timely and accurate accounting for LexisNexis on a monthly basis within I.F.R.S. standards.

  2. Operate in a collaborative environment with both our captive off-shore associates and on-shore global business partners.

  3. Promote teamwork and a collaborative environment within GFSS and across Global Finance.

  4. Proactively investigate financial and management performance through analytics.

  5. Operate within the rigors our internal control and SOX environment.

  6. Prepare and support our monthly, quarterly, Half Year and Annual reporting requirements both from a Management and RELX Group perspective.

  7. Respond to adhoc requests for analytics, guidance and financial results through the agreed demand management framework, to provide support and insight into financial performance.

  8. Investigate and review underlying accounting data to provide insight for input to commentaries/insights based on available information on trends and variances.

  9. Active involvement in supporting the Annual External Audit process along with related tax information requests.

  10. Any other accounting activities or requests that may be necessary.


  1. Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Masters in Accounting.

  2. Experience working in a fast-paced global environment with global internal customers. (Preferred)

  3. 3-5 years of relevant finance or accounting experience.

  4. Financial skills: technical analytical skills including trend, variance and profitability analysis.

  5. Accounting skills: accounting policies and standards for revenue/cost and management accounting techniques. Experience with acquisitions/divestitures, including the involvement with integration of any new businesses, preferably in an I.F.R.S. environment. (Preferred)

  6. Business skills: Robust knowledge of financial processes, capital drivers and development cost accounting requirements.

  7. An understanding of the Agile development process. (Preferred)

  8. System knowledge: Excel (advanced level), PowerPoint, Hyperion, PeopleSoft.

  9. Continuous improvement: ability to act as a change agent, identifying areas of opportunity in an established process and executing improvements.

  10. Languages: strong communication skills (verbal and written).

  11. Competencies - personal drive, interpersonal skills, commercial awareness, drives change and continuous improvement, results oriented.
