TheBI Data Analysthas responsibility for supporting the LexisNexis Business Strategy by providing basic consultative services to the business that result in the addition of new subject areas or enhancement to existing subject areas in the BI data warehouse. The person is also responsible for providing analysis of the BI data warehouse data. The BI Data Analyst participates in user interviews to understand business objectives, gather and analyze business requirements and performs the work required to meet the business objectives. This position is responsible for generating and analyzing reports and queries that provide the business with tools to model business information for business decisions or design Logical Business Data Models that effectively represent the business requirements, for adding or changing data in the data warehouse, and facilitate the use and sharing of data across the company.

Accountabilities:

  1. Extract, combine and aggregate transaction-level data sets from disparate sources and formats (both relational databases and flat files) into data cubes optimized for rapid access to key measures & metrics allowing for on demand deep-dive views of the business

  2. Develop & build fit-for-purpose custom data pipelines to support the cross-functional needs of Forecasting, Performance Assessment, and Advanced Analytics initiatives extending to Marketing & Sales teams

  3. Perform ad-hoc data investigation & queries to address an immediate business question and report data via cross-tabs, pivot tables, charts, distributions & correlations

  4. Support the development, distribution and maintenance of standard set of Sales & Marketing Performance Reports and Dashboards using appropriate reporting, visualization, and data automation tools

  5. Own regular evaluation of all data sources being leveraged to ensure integrity and quality of the data

  6. Identify and evaluate consistent ad-hoc requests for automation opportunities

  7. Actively participate and influence continuous improvements to Company's Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence solutions with a strong motive for eliminating redundant manual data extraction and processing

  8. Support the identification of requests outside of established priorities to articulate business value and determine work that should be redirected or discontinued to meet objectives

  9. Maintain strong analytical skills

  10. Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues at all levels across the organization

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree required; preferably in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Engineering or relevant Quantitative field

  2. 5+ years of practical experience in a data-rich environment using SQL for data extraction, processing, manipulation, query & reporting with a demonstrated practical knowledge of building analytical databases and managing data

  3. Previous experience in Marketing or Sales organization

  4. Experience with CRM (i.e. Siebel, Salesforce.com), Marketing Automation Platform (i.e. Marketing Cloud, Marketo) and/or Web Analytics (i.e. Google Analytics)

  5. Experience in data modeling and developing dashboards/reports in Tableau (and other similar BI Tools)

  6. Experience with data warehousing (e.g. storage methods/formats, database design) would be an asset

  7. Excellent verbal and written communications with ability to both communicate with and partner with Marketing and/or Sales

  8. Solid understanding of inbound and outbound marketing activities and analytics/measurement approaches

  9. Experience with working with and pulling data from marketing automation software (Oracle BI suite, Teradata, Google Analytics) preferred

  10. Comfortable working with a variety of computer systems and software languages included SAS, SQL, BI and relation database knowledge
