Analytics Data Engineer
Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States
The Analytics Data Engineer position exists to develop and implement strategic and tactical dashboards, reporting, and metrics to meet the NARS strategic and changing business needs, drive operational effectiveness and efficiency, and make improvements to the end user’s data gathering experience. The Analytics Data Engineer will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The Analytics Data Engineer will mentor analysts, consultants, and other architect and analytic individuals to ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable defining requirements with executive leaders, developing and executing against the requirements, and supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.
Consult, define, and execute against NARS strategic analytic needs, including governance and necessary technology to support BU and vendor/partner relationships.
In partnership with key stakeholders (Global Ops, Sales, Sales Ops, GTO, and etc.), develop and execute on marketing analytics strategy.
Influence the enterprise databases and processes to support measurement from "click to cash" and then full development of customer picture to support NARS and overall LN L&P partnerships.
Design, create, and deploy data strategy, including necessary data cube models, to meet NARS needs.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
Identify and execute on infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies.
Build analytics tools, such as dashboards and reporting, that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
Manage vendor relationships for analytics and automation implementation.
Coach and mentor team to execute against data strategy and to further develop their technical skills.
Requires a minimum of 10 years related business/technical/professional experience
4-year college degree in Marketing or MIS or related degree required; MBA preferred
7+ years’ experience with experience coordinating large projects required
Ability to think beyond raw data and to understand the underlying business context and sense business opportunities hidden in data
Experience working with sales and marketing teams, with preference for overall data expertise at LN L&P
Strong written and verbal communications; ability to communicate effectively at a cross-functional and managerial level
Experience leading projects with significant Change Management aspects
Direct experience working with marketing automation programs a plus
Project management certification or Six Sigma/LEAN a plus
Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management
A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
CRM (i.e. Siebel, Salesforce.com), Marketing Automation Platform (i.e.Marketing Cloud, Marketo) and/or Web Analytics (i.e. Google Analytics)
Oracle BI suite, Teradata, Google Analytics
Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift
Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.
Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++,Scala, etc
