BASIC FUNCTION

This position exists to update and maintain legal content in a timely, efficient and accurate fashion using current and emerging editorial systems and technology. Work as part of a team to ensure the integrity of legal content along with authored/technological/functional enhancements for legal research products in online, digital/ebook and print formats. Responsible for administrative, editorial and organizational tasks required to ensure timely completion of editorial products and projects.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Meets online Accuracy/Completeness/Timeliness requirements by (1) planning and prioritizing; (2) partnering with subject matter experts and vendors as appropriate; (3) delivering accurate, complete and timely results. Will collaborate with internal departments and teams to ensure conversion of legal content to online offerings and to proactively troubleshoot any processing concerns; share insights and solutions across jurisdictions, departments, sites, products, and applications to improve customer experience.

  • Delivers high quality work that meets or exceeds internal standards. Identifies patterns in errors through root cause analysis and speaks to quality/process issues across content types, products and systems.

  • Responsible for adherence to best practices in existing systems for scheduling and tracking products. Recognizes potential errors/roadblocks. Identifies process opportunities and takes action to remediate problems and formulate process improvements.

  • Works with vendor teams to achieve consistent and high quality product deliverables; reviews and audits vendor team work in accordance with department guidelines; utilizes communication best practices. May assume primary point of contact role, draft and maintain jurisdictional, process or product documentation, creating/providing schedules and maintaining tracking, regularly reviewing project status and escalating issues to manager, identify additional tasks that can be performed by vendor, regularly updates projection schedule and provides actuals, etc. Proactively builds competence within team, and vendor; proactively leverages vendor skills and resources to assist with additional jurisdictions and/or tasks.

  • Ensures that contract requirements and customer expectations are met. Effectively communicates with customer and/or government relations; escalates concerns to manager, plus actively participates and provides information for requests related to product bids; participates in live meetings and presentations with government officials, customer agencies, etc. as appropriate.

  • Balances projects and tasks in light of production timelines and work/life balance. Assists colleagues within team/department in order to contribute to overall work/life balance concerns while meeting department priorities, plus escalates challenges to resource and production demands; organizes, collaborates, and plans within and across teams.

  • Displays time management skills; models business etiquette; shares knowledge and expertise, mentor, etc., plus proactively recognizes and addresses knowledge gaps and opportunities to build competence within team, department, and vendors.

  • Works cooperatively and effectively to elevate personal as well as team performance. Consistently supports team decisions, encourages and supports team atmosphere (including vendor partners) by tangible recognition of other's contributions.

  • Displays open-minded and methodical perspective in approaching best practices. Recognizes trends/patterns suggesting broader needs or concerns than the one presently surfaced. Undertakes in-depth analysis and consults with colleagues to investigate and address root cause and resolution of issues.

  • Recognizes matters requiring manager and/or stakeholder awareness/involvement and communicates said matters to manager/stakeholder. Identifies key stakeholders and crafts recommendations and solutions to address issues. Proactively addresses new, broad, or recurring issues.

  • Achieves quick competence in use of editorial production systems as necessary; masters navigation of all pertinent LN platforms and media. Ability to analyze, report, review and problem solve and ultimately craft and implement ongoing process improvements. Stays on top of new iterations of software and their practical applications.

Location: Colorado Springs preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree or equivalent.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, written/oral communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Technical knowledge: Basic computer skills; MS Office applications; experience with editorial composition systems, HTML, XML, desktop publishing systems, GREP queries, scripting, are highly desirable.

  • Multitasking capabilities and flexibility to adjust to a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.

  • Ability to adapt to and accept change.
