Manager Statistical Modeling


Location: Alpharetta, Georgia, United States

As a Manager of Statistical Modeling you will be on the front line of this effort, supervising a team of passionate statistical modelers and data scientists who develop key solutions for LexisNexis Risk Solutions insurance business. This will involve overseeing the application of advanced analytics to large data assets in order to provide property and casualty insurers with actionable insights.

You will guide a team and will work with both internal and external customers to design and execute on all phases of analytical projects from data acquisition to analysis to model development to production support.


  • Hire, train, and motivate a team of highly intelligent analysts

  • Build a creative and challenging environment where people want to work and excel

  • Supervise the construction of models for underwriting and pricing property casualty policies

  • Manage client projects and day-to-day production assignments, research assignments

  • Provide tactical direction and oversight of analytics work

  • Engage with clients and propose/create suitable models addressing the nuances of the model purpose

  • Clearly summarize results and present findings back to all stakeholders

  • Oversee the evaluation of new data and the development of new attributes

  • Communicate effectively with Senior Management regarding status and next steps on data and analytics efforts

  • Support sales opportunities and product development initiatives

  • Develop adequate test designs and validation strategies for data and analytics products


  • 7+ years experience in data analysis and manipulation, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis. Supervisory experience preferred

  • Detailed understanding of GLMs and the ability to apply these to insurance modeling problems

  • Excellent analytical and project management skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including customer-facing presentation skills

  • Advanced Degree in a quantitative field and/or Actuarial designation

  • Experience with R, Python and SQL preferred

  • Experience with machine learning preferred

  • Experience with insurance and working in a regulated environment preferred
